We visited PONIENTEPLAST SA, one of the key-producer of plastics crates in Spain for fruits and vegetables, certified by CAPEC CAJAS EN ECONOMIA CIRCULAR according to EFSA criteria on food safety, and also certified in ISO 9.001, 14.001 and 22.000.
As part of the LIFE CLOOVER² project, we are continuing to look for along Spain of circular models that extend the useful life of plastic packaging, reduce the consumption of virgin raw materials and the increasing use of recuperated plastic materials in packaging.
The replication of the LIFE CLOOVER² CRATES LOOP in Andalusia represents a new step towards demonstrating that a model based on the collection, sorting, reconditioning and recycling of PP and HDPE crates is technically and logistically viable across different regions in Spain.
This initiative will enable us to assess how the system operates in a new environment, strengthening the traceability of packaging and contributing to more efficient resource management within the agri-food supply chain.
The collaboration between various stakeholders in the value chain is key to driving the transition towards a truly circular economy.
