On 28 April, Teresa Martínez, LIFE CLOOVER² Project Coordinator, attended the Agri-Food Congress held in Madrid at the headquarters of the Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI). The event was organised by the Spanish Association for Quality (AEC) under the theme “Regulation and Competitiveness”, with the collaboration of Revista Alimentaria.
The congress was opened by Diego Crescente, Director General of EOI, and moderated by David Verano Cañaveras, President of the AEC Agri-Food Committee. The event brought together companies, institutions and industry experts to discuss the impact of current and upcoming European Union regulations on the agri-food sector and the importance of anticipating regulatory changes across the entire value chain.
The discussions highlighted the strategic relevance of the agri-food industry in Spain, which represents approximately 20% of the country’s manufacturing industry and contributes 2.9% of national GDP. Participants analysed the challenges and opportunities arising from evolving legislation and explored ways to strengthen the sector’s competitiveness while meeting sustainability and compliance requirements.
The LIFE CLOOVER² project is closely linked to the agri-food sector through its focus on innovative solutions for the recycling and reuse of plastic food-contact packaging. Consequently, both SINTAC Recycling and the project’s partners and collaborating companies are committed to ensuring compliance with current and future regulatory frameworks related to sustainability, including Packaging Regulation 40/2025, as well as food safety requirements established under Regulation 1616/2022 and other relevant legislation.
Participation in high-level industry events such as the Agri-Food Congress provides valuable insights that support informed decision-making and help companies throughout the value chain prepare for future regulatory and market challenges.
